Substack Says Its More Than Email + Art & Book Deals Newsletters
Substack wrote an interesting piece this week separating itself from the "newsletter economy". There are some great points there about their mission of empowering creators to operate independently and viewing there competitors as platforms like Patreon and Shopify.
But email is still the central distribution method at the core of their service. While obvious panic moves like Facebook and Twitter's were always unlikely to work. Other email platforms like Ghost and Beehiiv are genuine "newsletter" competitors they shouldn't disregard so lightly. Often platforms falter when they lose focus of their core offering and bold statements like these look misguided in hindsight.
...and the featured newsletters this week cover book deals, the future, art, entrepreneurship, and more!
